January death of 5-year-old boy ruled a homicide: NYPD

Police deemed the Jan. 22 death of 5-year-old Michael Guzman from Jamaica a homicide Thursday, according to the NYPD.

Almost a year ago on that Sunday afternoon within the 103rd Precinct police responded to a 911 call at 109th Avenue near Inwood Street and discovered the young boy unconscious and unresponsive on the ground, according to authorities.

EMS later arrived at the scene and took the child to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, said police.

There have been no arrests and the investigation was ongoing.
