Man slashed while riding No. 7 subway: NYPD

A straphanger on board a No. 7 train was slashed Sunday afternoon in Long Island City.

The 37-year-old male victim was riding on the southbound 7 train just before 2:30 p.m. when he got into a verbal dispute with another passenger that turned violent, police said.

During the fight, the suspect stabbed the victim once in the back of the right hand with a knife and fled the train at the Queensboro Plaza station, according to the NYPD.

The victim was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he received five stitches for the laceration on his hand, police said. The NYPD described the suspect as a Hispanic man in his 40s who was last seen wearing a purple hooded sweatshirt, a black vest and blue jeans.
